Archaeology, Beach, Mountains all within a few hours drive of each other?
Coming back from my jaunt of Iceland, I took a flight from Reykjavik to London to Cyprus. So as you can imagine it was a long day of flying. When I got into Cyprus I as already three sheets to the wind from drinking with a British guy on the plane. I met my friend Roulla at the airport and we took about a 45 minute taxi drive to the city of Limassol where we stayed.
I cant tell you how much I enjoyed this island. Besides the great food and sites, they had beer just about everywhere (the Greek side of course).
The first day we just went out and did some archaeological sites as I was collecting pictures to put in my PPT for work. At night we went out for dinner and then I ran into a Karaoke bar and then night was pretty much lost after that…..
The next day full headache in hand, we took an excursion up to Troodos mountains. We went to a very old monastery there which was beautiful yet a bit eerie. After that we went to a great restaurant where we had some good goat and drinks. On the way back down to Limassol we stopped at a small town and had some more drinks…..it was a good day!!!!
On the last day here we decided to take an excursion to the west part of the island to do some swimming. I can tell you that the water was crystal blue here and it was great temperature. We also had some good food at a restaurant as it is always my pleasure to try and local food put in front of me…..the next day I was off to Malta….
